Design :     Clink and Klank are both one piece toys and are both on the same page.

Back story:     Clink and Klank are steam powered robots built by professor Endercliff. As one of prof Endercliff’s earlier inventions Clink and Klank have limited movement and sluggish reactions but they were invented to show Endercliff’s new simulated friendship circuit. Because of this Clink and Klank share a special bond, never leaving each other for a moment. Just before professor Endercliff’s untimely death Clink and Klank left his workshop to pursue a life of their own, every month a new postcard arrives at Endlercliff’s old workshop showing their travels, even if there is no longer anyone there to pick them up.

Designers notes:     Clink and Klank are one of my favorite designs, partly because of how simple they are but mainly because they went through more renditions and changes than any other non-commission design I have done.

The original design was called “Clockwork Cracker” the design was meant to be a limited edition print on metallic bronze paper. The design was a nutcracker made of metal plates and covered in gears and cogs. However after going through several designs for the Clockwork Cracker I decided I would concentrate on a sidekick for the Cracker instead. Using the same graphics I re-arranged the page to create Clink.

I liked the Clink design so much that I scrapped the Clockwork Cracker project and instead added another sidekick for Clink, bringing Klank into the picture. At this point I still wanted to make Clink and Klank into a limeted edition print on matalic paper, which is why the design only uses a few colours.

After having these two toys on my desk for about a month I decided I would instead add a metallic effect to the panels and release them as a free downloadable toy.

If we delve even deaper into A.G.papertoys history, before it was a company and I went by the name of “Holy-Cherio” I designed Steamboy, a steamsuit with a removable driver, this was the insparation for creating the Clockwork Cracker.

Steamboy is no longer available, but it’s probably for the best as the design was far from good.
